What is industry standard fee in residential construction for contract superintendant work?

I'm looking to offer appropriate compensation (% fee based on construction cost) for a residential construction superintendant. This person will be paid a percentage based on hard construction costs of the project.

  1. You need to look at other factors when deciding the percentage. For instance, what is the time period to complete the job. Is it one year, do you expect him to be on your job 40 hours per week. Then you better make your percentage high enough to pay him his entire salary for that time period(year, 3 months, whatever) We own a commercial electrical company and I know that most general contractors throw 10-15% on top of our costs and other subcontractor costs to help cover their pay.
